Hope all is well in these very exciting times for our club. This fall PYO intramural soccer league will beexpanding and revisingits age groups. You’ll find a description of each below
DIVISIONS:
Lil Vikes U4-U5 Picking daisies at center field? Nope! Standing in one spot with your head in the clouds? Not this time. Our 3-4 year old Lil Vikes are encouraged by coaches and families to focus on the object of the game... TO HAVE FUN! Players build an awareness and basic skills of the game while developing their ability to share the ball, confidence to take their shot and the endurance to run FOREVER! Players still compete in 5v5 soccer action but some accommodations and considerations are made. Vikes U6-U7 This isn’t the Lil Vikes anymore. These players know the basics but are still working on the fundamentals and honing their skills. The shots are harder, the passes more crisp and man can they run! Players in this group will focus more on drills and in game lessons to build accuracy and strategy, while developing the focus and enthusiasm that began in the Lil Vikes. Vikings U8- U9 Not quite ready for travel, but competition is fierce. These players are focused on extending what they’ve learned through our program so far and developing more concrete and functional skills to fill any gaps in their game. We all grow differently but this league grows together and builds strong bonds between players, whether they find themselves on travel teams in the future as teammates or opponents. REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Registration cost is $75 per child, $65 for each sibling. Players will receive team shirts. Awards at the end of each season will be given out to all U4-U5 Players and 1st and 2nd place for tournaments in U6-U12.
Players are responsible for shin guards, cleats and appropriate soccer attire(socks, shorts, “underarmor”/thermals. Each player is encouraged to have their own soccer ball (size 3 in lil Vikes or 4)
Games are Sunday mornings between 9am and 2/3 pm. Times for games vary each week. Games last roughly 45 minutes - 1 hour. Season will last from September to Mid-November
SPECIAL REQUESTS
Fall/Spring soccer has practices once per week (M-TH) at the coaches discretion. Families with specific conflicts of schedule should include such information (I.e. No Tuesday’s, or Tues Thurs practice) during the registration in the Coach Request or Teammate request fields. Practice are between 6-7pm on the intramural fields behind the PYO clubhouse (Vikings division will be separate due to needs of larger fields).
Teammate requests are not Guaranteed but Child’s/Sibling’s FIRST AND LAST NAMES are necessaryto the make complete requests. (John Smith vs. Johnny or "same team as her brother")
FALL SPECIALS In the past Fall Intramural Soccer has had picture day, Lil Vikes Skills competition and a 6-8year old tournament. With our new alignment we hope to have a playoff for championship in the U10s, Tournament in the Vikes and skills competition in the Lil Vikes. We hope to continue this traditions, but scheduling will rely on best recommendations from the CDC and local agencies.
Get ready for the action and sportsmanship that makes us PARKWOOD PROUD! Parkwood Intramural Soccer has enrolled over 400 children in a single season do our best to ensure all teams are fair and balanced based on ages and genders when possible. We are more worried about the kids developing through our system with the skills and sportsmanship that defines Parkwood Youth Organization. Parkwood is a 100%VOLUNTEER organization and we look for all types of parents to coach, assistant coach, maintain fields and participate in our community organization. VOLUNTEER DURING REGISTRATION!
