Spring/Summer Season Updates

Important Updates from Parkwood Youth Organization:  Phased Plan for Spring 2020 Effective Immediately
Updated May 18th 01:16am

A message to our families,

This Spring has proven to be a very difficult time for our families and our players. It is unfortunate that we must make hard choices in regards to the 2020 Spring sports seasons. Due to the extended stay at home order for our area pushed to June 4th the Board has made the decision to excel the phase 2 determination date and have moved to cancel the Spring Intramural Soccer Season. This was a very difficult decision for us to make as many families have been eager to get back on the fields as have we. We are still holding onto hope that we will be able to start some sports later but in preparation for the possibility the Spring season is shut down we would like to provide our families with options.

Our #1 priority is the safety of the players and our families. The Executive board met Thursday May 14th after much feedback from our families , reviewing the current City, State and Federal updates we have made the determination that we will continue to monitor the situation in regards to Intramural Baseball and Volleyball programs with the hope of still having a season and bringing some normalcy back to our families by delaying seasonal starts. In preparation for the delayed start of the Spring/Summer seasons we are continuing to take a phased approach.

Noted in the plan we have determined the latest start dates for each program. Cancelation determinations will be made prior to targeted start dates. We will provide the full cancelation plan below. please note that cancelation determination dates can be moved up if closures continue past target start dates

Spring/Summer Season Survey Information :

Sunday May 17th  we will be sending an email to all registered participants as well as posting to both our facebook and home page a link to a survey  that will provide options for families to determine their desire to continue to participate in the delayed seasons or opt out.  The survey will provide families the ability to determine how their Spring/Summer fees are allocated.

We will provide 3 Options

  1. Donation

  • As a non-profit(501 (c)(3)) volunteer organization we rely heavily on registration dollars to fund our Club and programs.  If you are able to apply all or a portion of your Spring registration payment  as a donation to the club, your generosity  will help us continue to provide programming to our community in future seasons. As a thank you if  your donation is >50% of the registration amount you will be eligible for a $10 credit to be used on your next registration and for a full donation you will be eligible for a $20 credit towards your next registration.

    • (Please note that all donations are tax deductible.)

  1. Credit

  • If you would like to request a credit, we will create a code that can be used  during your next registration.  You will also be eligible for a $10 voucher for a future registration beginning Winter 2021)

  1. Reimbursement

  • If you would like to request reimbursement of the Spring fee we will process as quickly as possible. Reimbursement is a MANUAL process. We just ask for your patience as we update each request.  As a non-profit organization, Parkwood Youth Organization will retain $5 from the registration fees to cover the processing and transaction fees our organization incurs with each transaction.

A note for our families that have children playing Travel Soccer. Registration for the 2020-2021 Travel Soccer Season  will be opening Monday May 18th. Should you have any Questions about Travel SOccer please reach out to Derek Ross at [email protected]

Passing Of An Icon

Passing of an Icon

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Dunlop Sr.

Mr. Dunlop was one of Parkwood Youth Organization’s founding fathers back in 1965. With the dedication of Mr. Dunlop and many others their legacy has lived on through the growth of the club to this day. Mr. Dunlop’s commitment to the youth of Parkwood not only was shown through the teams he coached that his children played on but also impacted many lives on teams he coached that his children did not play on.

Mr. Dunlop’s commitment and dedication to the youth of Parkwood have resulted in two of the highest honors for the club, he is one of only a select few in our ring of honor and Travel soccer field #1 has been dedicated in his name as well. Parkwood has lost a legend but his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched over the years. Mr. Dunlop is survived by his children Gordon Jr., John, Linda and many family members. Parkwood Youth Organization would like to send out heartfelt and warmest condolences to the entire Dunlop family.

COVID-19 Updates

Good Evening Parwood Families and Community ,

Thank you for your patience as we all navigate through these difficult times. We just wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with a few updates after our video conference tonight concerning the current status of the club. At this time all club activities will continue to be suspended that includes all practices, games and other events associated with Parkwood Youth Organization. The Executive board will be holding a followup conference call Monday April 6th reviewing the current City, State and Federal recommendations as they will also be reevaluating the COVID-19 situation. As it pertains to our Spring and Summer programs we are at the point where we will be discussing pushing back start dates. We do not anticipate having any final decisions given the fluid nature of the current situation, however we do have multiple game plans prepared. You will be provided updates from your directors early next week with more information.

As we all continue to monitor the COVID-19 updates please make every effort to comply with City, State and Federal regulations in order to help flatten the curve.

Thank you to all the Men and Women on the frontline helping to keep our hospitals staffed ,families safe and store shelves stocked. We are all in this together!
