2021 Tournament Rules and Information

Welcome to Parkwood Youth Organization's 33rd Annual Thanksgiving Classic 
(Formerly The Schillinger 
Tournament) 



The PYO Tournament Committee has adopted the following rules to govern tournament application, registration,
and team play.

This tournament will be played in accordance with F.I.F.A. rules unless modified by statements below.

LOCATION:

• Games will be played at the PYO facility and nearby club fields.

DATES AND TIMES:

• Competition starts after 5:00 PM Friday November 26th, 2021 and ends on Sunday November 28th

• All tournament dates and times will be published on our web site http://www.pyo.org.

• Game schedules for each age group will be published on our web site by Friday November 19th, 2021.

• As we can never control all variables, please check the site for possible game schedule changes right up until Friday November 26th game times.

SANCTIONS:

• This tournament is approved by the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA), affiliated with U.S.S.F., U.S.Y.S.A. and F.I.F.A. and is open to all State-Rostered. U-9 Young Division through U-17, Boys and Girls teams.

• "Permission to Host" can be found on the tournament web site.

ENTRY FEES:

• U-9 Young Division through U-10 7v7 format... $500.00.

     All U-8 teams will play 7v7 format and register under U-9 Young Division

     U-11 through U-12 9v9 format…$500.00

• U-13 through U-17 11v11 format... $625.00.

• All fees must be paid by November 5th; 2021.

• Any team that drops out after November 12th, 2021 will forfeit their entry fee.

APPLICATION FORM & PROCESS:

APPLICATION & FEE DEADLINE:

• Applications and payment must be received online or by November 5th, 2021.

REGISTRATION CHECKLIST:

  • Registration will be held on Wednesday, November 24th ,2021 in the PYO Gym from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.

  • All teams must bring...

  • A copy of their 2021-2022 state roster. Any rostered player not playing should be crossed out. Any guest players should be written in clearly.

  • Players and Coaches passes (must be presented at registration and must be kept with teams at     all times during the tournament). Guest players without passes must submit a birth certificate.

  • Out of state teams must provide "permission to travel" forms.

  • Any out-of-area team unable to make registration on Wednesday evening November 24th, 2021 must register at the PYO Clubhouse one hour before their first game or face forfeit.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The tournament is open to club travel teams only

  • Applications will be taken for teams in the following age groups: U-8 through U-17 Boys and U-8 through U-17 Girls.

  • The Tournament Committee may combine play level and/or age groups in any instance where team entries are too few.

FORMAT:

  • Each team will play a minimum of three (3) games with a maximum of (6) games.

  • All players must be rostered with a state association.

  • All 7v7 and 9v9 teams will play two 25 minute halves.

  • All 11v11 teams will play two 30 minute halves.

  • No more than four (4) Guest players for any age group.  

  • No player shall play on more than one (1) team for the entire tournament. Violations will result in forfeiture. 

  • U-13 through U-17 11 v11 will play two (2) thirty (30) minute halves.

  • All preliminary round games played on Saturday and Sunday will be played to a WIN-LOSE-TIE conclusion with the following scoring system:

  • Win = 3 points

  • Loss = 0 points

  • Tie = 1 point

  • Shutout = 1 point

  • Tie Breakers in the following order:

  1. Head To Head Play

  2. Goals Against 

  3. Goal Differential 

  4. Goals For (max 3 per game)

  1. Penalty Shootout



  • Any Sunday playoff games that are tied after regulation will play two (2), five (5) minute overtime periods. If still tied after overtime, F.I.F.A penalty kicks will decide the outcome.

AWARDS:

  • Team and individual awards will be given to champions and runners-up.

OFFICIALS:

  • Referees will be official U.S.S.F. member referees.

  • U-9 Young Division through U12 will have one referee.

  • U-13 through U-17 will have a three-man system.

PRIOR TO GAME PLAY:

• All teams must appear at the scheduled field, at the scheduled time, regardless of weather conditions, unless notified otherwise by Tournament Officials. Failure to appear will result in forfeiture.

• In the case of inclement weather, the Tournament Committee will have the authority to change, cancel, or reschedule any game, and/or alter its format.

•   All teams must have numbered uniform jerseys with no duplicates.

•   At the sole discretion of the referee, home teams will change Jerseys when uniform colors are similar.

• Players are instructed to remove all jewelry before play. The referee will instruct players to remove any item he/she deems unsafe.

GAME PLAY:

• Games will be governed and played in accordance with F.I.F.A. rules unless modified by statements within this document.

•  All teams will have ten minutes from the scheduled game time to field a team of at least seven players. Within

 that ten-minute period, once a team can field seven players, the referee must start the game. If a team is

unable to field seven players ten minutes after the scheduled game time, that team will forfeit at a score of 0-1. •  Both coaches must check and sign the referee scorecard after each game. Failure to do so will waive any

protest of scores reported by the referees.

•  Substitutions are unlimited with the consent of the referee at the following times:

• On goal kick, regardless of possession.

• On throw in. with possession.

• After goal is scored.

• At the start of the second half or overtime periods.

• After injury to any player. Opposing team may substitute on a 1 to 1 basis.

• On a yellow card, but only for the player receiving the yellow card.

• No substitution is allowed for a player red carded by the referee.

• Yellow and Red Cards:

• Yellow Card - a player receiving a yellow card must be substituted immediately and remain out of the game until the team's next valid opportunity to substitute per the rules above.

• Red Card - Two yellow cards to any one player constitute a red card. That player must leave the game. A referee may also issue an immediate red card for any single offense deemed serious or flagrant.

• Any player issued a red card must immediately leave the field and is further prohibited from attending his/her team's next scheduled game.

CONDUCT:

• Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players AND THEIR PARENTS/SPECTATORS. It is the coach's responsibility to make sure everyone associated with the team conducts himself/herself in a responsible manner.

• Offensive conduct will not be tolerated and may result in forfeit or suspension from the tournament.

• Any player, coach, or team official ejected from a game shall be suspended for at least one additional game.

PROTESTS:

• There will be no means for protest. The decisions of the referee(s) and Tournament Committee are final!

INSURANCE AND LIABILITY:

• All teams, being state-rostered, are required by their sanctioning association to carry valid sports accident

insurance. With the submission of your application, you give PYO your guarantee that your team is so insured. • PYO will accept no responsibility for accident or injury occurring to, from, or during the tournament.

• PYO is not responsible for expenses incurred by any team in the event of tournament/game cancellation (whole

or in part) or team forfeiture.

IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER:

• The PYO Tournament Committee will make every effort to play all games.

• The Tournament Committee will not allow games to be played in weather where there is possibility of injury to players or severe damage to fields.

• The Tournament Committee may do any of the following:

• Reschedule or relocate games

• Change the duration of a game. Note that any game terminated after a completed half of play will be scored as a completed game.

• Cancel any game that is not needed for playoff selection.

• Cancel the entire tournament in the interest of player safety and/or field conservation..

• Any changes will be posted on the PYO web site ( http://www.pyo.org ) on or before the morning of play.

• Should the tournament be cancelled due to weather on Thanksgiving weekend our designated rain date will be the following weekend of December 4th 2021. The whole point of the tournament is to have the kids play... and we will make every effort to do so.

REFUND POLICY:

  1. If the tournament is cancelled entirely due to weather, PYO will refund entry fees minus our unrecoverable tournament costs and fees.

  2. Once registered, refunds will not be provided to teams withdrawing after acceptance by Parkwood Youth Organization. If the event is completely cancelled at which point rule #3 would apply.

  3. Partial refunds will be given in the event of complete cancellation after the tournament director and the staff reviews the entire event.

  4. Parkwood Youth Organization is not responsible for any expenses incurred by any team in the event the tournament in whole or in part, or in the event games are discontinued or canceled, due to forfeit, inclement weather conditions. Only registration fees will be partially refunded.

  5. If the event is fully cancelled due to Covid-19, teams will receive a 100% refund

  6. If a team must cancel due to COVID-19 full credit will be given for the 2022 Thanksgiving Classic  OR receive a partial refund

TEAM CHECKLIST:

❑ Each Team should review Tournament Rules and Information (this document). Print a copy of this document for your reference.

❑ Complete and submit the online Tournament Application with tournament fees online... on or before November 5th 2021.

❑ Attend Team Registration at the PYO Clubhouse Gym on Wednesday November 24th 2021 from 7:00-9:00 PM.

❑ Download your team Game Schedule from our web site any time after Friday November 19th, 2021. And check back to the site for updates and/or changes right up until game day.

❑ Show up to play on the specified fields, at the specified times, November 26th -tNovember 28th 2021
